Leon Peek
Name: Leon Peek

Occupation: retired auditor for the US defense force
# of Maranatha trips: 3
Leon currently lives in Korea with his wife, Eun-hee who he met and married when he first moved to Korea for work in 1979. Eun-hee is currently working as a nursing teacher at the SDA health school. Leon joined a Maranatha team to Tchad in January and was excited to come back to Africa for the roofing project. He feels blessed being able to help and do some good in the world. Leon remembers listening to Josephine Cunnington Edwards stories while at camp meetings as a small boy which led to an interest in Malawi and this project.

Kevin with Benson and Hudson
Name: Kevin Reimer
Age: 25
Home: Chattanooga, Tennessee (USA)
Occupation: waiter/bartender with plans to train for RN
# of Maranatha trips:1
Kevin has always wanted to be involved in mission work. After watching a piece on Malamulo by Journey films Kevin felt the Lord leading him for service here. He is interested in medical missions and so working close to a hospital like Malamulo has been a draw for him. Every time I visit the construction sites I find Kevin up on the roof demolishing and helping put the new irons sheets on.
Kevin is immediate fun as you can tell from the picture of him with my boys. He is easy to like and converse with, and we are so grateful he chose to help us at Malamulo. Thank you Kevin!

Kristen's dad began raising money and when the church joined in the effort, they had enough to send Kristen, River and his brother Cody. It's so nice to hear the real Aussie accent on the job site and River also knows how to mix it up with the Americans and have some fun. He is hard working and has been involved with making beams, trusses and doing demolition.
River, thank you for coming all the way to Malawi to work hard and contribute to this project. It's a joy having you around.

Aykut Ozger
Name: Aykut Ozger
Age: 34
Home: Arlington Virginia (USA) originally from Turkey
Occupation: International trade Lawyer
# of Maranatha trips: 1
Aykut became an SDA in 2009 after developing a relationship with his now wife. After his baptism he learned more about mission work and had thoughts about mission trips. However, with a hectic schedule at school he found the timing difficult to plan a mission trip. At the Spencerville SDA church where he and his wife attend, they heard Maranatha give a mission spot light and both felt impressed. This trip to Malawi happened very quickly for Aykut. The trip was booked up, but his wife called to check if they had one more place (and they did!), then the plane for full up (but one spot opened up!) and God worked out every other detail to make it a reality.
Now in Malawi, Aykut was sharing with me how parts of his experience here have reminded him of his service in the Turkish army in 2004, but that overall the experience has been invaluable and unimaginable.
Aykut, you are very thoughtful, diligent and a pleasure to have on the team. How amazing to think that God wanted you here that he worked out all the small details. Thank you so much for your contributions here in Malawi!

Dave, Susan and Marquelle Woods
Dave Woods works for Maranatha on the ground in Africa. He has been committed to projects and positions in Africa in various countries over the years, including heading up the Malamulo Maintenance Department when Ryan's family lived in the 1980's. Since working for Maranatha Dave and his family (son Justin in LLU medical school, daughter Janelle, recent graduate from MBA, CA and Marquelle currently living at home) have lived in Mozambique, Malawi and now are moving to Zimbabwe.
Through Dave's leadership many one day churches have been built as well as schools and other buildings.
When David got Maranatha on board with the roofing project we knew God was working! It's peace of mind to have capable get it done people organizing an effort like this.
Susan is an amazing hostess and woman of the Lord. Always prayerful, graceful and helpful.
Marquelle is a sweet young lady, full of talent and caring for those around her.
Woods family - don't go! We will miss you way too much. Thank you for heading up this effort with the awesome organization you represent, Maranatha!
