The roofing project has begun!

This past October our project began when Maranatha sent a roofing expert, Luther Findlay (from Sacramento, California) to Malamulo. With the assistance of 3 Malawian laborers who have been involved with Maranatha churches, Luther began to assess and measure the roofing situation here on campus.

He recognized a major problem in our housing structures where the ridges have been leaking. With heavy rains and much wind, debris, leaves and small twigs were getting lodged up past the ridge and allowing for massive water channels to flood when conditions allowed.

Luther worked hard to find a solution to the ridge problem by sourcing local foam, cutting it to size and re-ridging 13 roofs. The foam pieces helped to seal the gaps that were exposed with no foam on the previous ridgelines. He added new closures, re-beamed where rotten wood was found, and placed new ridges on houses where needed.  He also measured homes and assessed which ones need to be re-roofed completely so when we bring a team back in July 2013, we will be able to have the appropriate materials on site.
We are looking forward to continuing the project next year when Maranatha send a group of volunteers to work on our roofs at Malamulo Mission Hospital.

Thank you to each one of you who have supported us, this project and the long term maintenance of these neglected mission homes on our campus. Our staff is very appreciative and we continue to be surprised by your generosity and compassion for this project.
We still have $25,000USD more to raise!! Please donate today.
