This Christmas was different than last. Benson saw the presents under the tree and began to comprehend the wonder that each parcel contained behind the ribbons, paper and baggies. As his pile of presents was mounded in the middle of the room, he watched with excitement as we helped him pull off the paper that revealed his baseball bat....wow. Then, books, his own DR scrub and tool set, a soccer ball, a bike helmet, a cell phone, personalized items from G-ma, a whale puppet, a hand made sweater, truck mania, a rocking pony, cut out puzzles, a Rody, many other items and the big ticket name on his own size chair were unveiled.
Christmas was born in the eyes of Benson. Christmas 2009 will most likely be awaited with anticipation as this year was just so sweet.
As for the rest of us, we enjoyed our traditional fondue dinner with a swiss cheese fondue for main, followed by dark chocolate for dessert. We shared stories and blessings and found time to remember why we spend this time with family and how much we missed each family member that spent the holiday somewhere else. Jules and Corey left that evening to fly home to CA, with one 'wishful' suitcase that weighed in at 65lbs. Ahhh, the joys of rearranging your underwear and personals in front of strangers at the airport....I've been there before.
